Two-million pound target for Ride the Night 2017

Inspiring women from all walks of life came together today at the Coca-Cola London Eye to announce the most ambitious Women V Cancer Ride the Night fundraising target ever – a staggering two-million pounds to be raised in a single night.

Inspiring women from all walks of life came together today at the Coca-Cola London Eye to announce the most ambitious Women V Cancer Ride the Night fundraising target ever – a staggering two-million pounds to be raised in a single night.

Celebrities Sue Hill, Lizzie Cundy and Dr. Dawn Harper were joined by womens cancer charities Jos Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care and Ovarian Cancer Action alongside thirty Ride the Night participants at the iconic London landmark.

Together they achieved their goal of cycling over one-hundred kilometers on the ground and in a capsule, pedaling a combined total of 300km across three stationary bikes provided by event partner, Halfords.

This Morning star, Ride the Night ambassador and former Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Superintendent Sue Hill said: “Ride the Night is an event close to my heart, and I can’t think of a better way to kick start the countdown to this year’s ride.

“Two million pounds is an incredible amount of money that will make such a difference to the three amazing charities.

“Cycling in a Coca-Cola London Eye capsule was an experience I’ll never forget!”

Coca-Cola London Eye General Manager, Sunny Jouhal said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this event for Ride the Night to help raise awareness of the event and the fundraising target.

“On the night of the ride, as in previous years, the Coca-Cola London Eye will be showing support by lighting up pink; we hope the participants will be encouraged when they ride past and see us as they approach the half way stage of their amazing challenge.”

Organised by Action for Charity, Ride the Night has quickly become the most popular women’s only cycle ride in the U.K., with this year’s sold out event hosting 4250 on Saturday 27 May.

Ann Frampton, Managing Director at Action for Charity said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Merlin Entertainments, our great friends at Halfords who provided the stationary bikes, our fantastic celebrity supporters and most importantly, the amazing women who have made Ride the Night so special.

“We are making a real difference with the money we raise. Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care and Ovarian Cancer Action all do incredible work and help women in ways that can’t be put in to words.

“Days like today show just how amazing Women V Cancer is.”

It was also announced that registration for Ride the Night 2018 is now open.  Next year, to meet the huge demand for places, there will be two event nights – Saturday 5th May and Saturday 26th May.
