Sunrise City 5k events sold out across three cities

Last Friday, with the completion of Sunrise City 5k Derby, the Sunrise City series came to an end. Across the three cities, over 1500 people took part in turning Nottingham, Leicester, and Derby purple at 5:30 am.

Event Director, Nik Emmonds said: “We are really happy to have successfully completed this year’s series of Sunrise City 5k. Despite the early hours of the morning we had a great turnout.

“Since this is a non-competitive event, we had people from all age groups and fitness abilities join us, from runners to walkers, people pushing strollers and even some who brought along their four legged friends.”

Maria Mills, one of the participants, commented on the Nottingham event: “I would just like to let you know how much I enjoyed the 5k this morning, great course and excellent volunteers, a big thank you to them all. The tee shirt is lovely but the medal… let’s say that in my 35 years of being a runner, this is probably my best one yet. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into it.”

With all three events having sold out and a lot of positive feedback coming our way, the team is looking forward to next year’s Sunrise City 5k. “We are excited to see the purple movement grow” Nik added, “We are looking forward to extending the Sunrise Family to other cities in the next year.”
