Run in the Dark to return to Manchester next week
On Wednesday 16th November, the Media City UK Piazza will become the epicentre of Run in the Dark Manchester as it returns for a fourth year. Hundreds of runners will add to the lights of the Quays with flashing armbands as they embark on 5 or 10k runs around the complex, passing the now famous buildings housing the BBC and Coronation Street studios.
Run in the Dark was inspired by adventurer, athlete and motivational speaker, Mark Pollock. Pollock went completely blind at the young age of 22.
Tragically, in July 2010, Mark suffered another life changing blow when he fell from a second story window which left him paralysed. Mark’s journey changed irrevocably and now, instead, he is seeking to fast-track a cure for paralysis. Out of this necessity the Mark Pollock Trust was born, a not-for-profit organisation that aims to find and connect people worldwide working in science, communications and finance to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
With less than two weeks to go, there is still time to join in the annual event and see your city in a new light. Simply visit the website to register your place: www.runinthedark.org
