Get Active and Try A Free Skating Session at The National Ice Centre

The National Ice Centre will take part in The National Lottery and ITV’s ‘I Am Team GB’ campaign by offering a free public skating session to encourage people to get fit!

From 9.30am on 27 August, ITV is switching off all seven of its channels for an hour in order to encourage people to get fit and take part in sport following Team GB’s Olympic success.

Thousands of sports organisations nationwide will be opening their doors and allowing people to try new sports for free.

The National Ice Centre will be offering members of the public a chance to have fun and enjoy getting active by trying a free skating session from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 27 August.

Expert coaches will be on standby to show you a few tips and to ensure safety. On-ice characters such as penguins and snowmen will also be available for young children to skate with for assistance. There will also be the chance to meet our mascot Pip the Penguin.

The National Ice Centre provides a variety of skating sessions for all ages and abilities, including skating lessons, ice hockey sessions as well as speed skating and figure skating courses. You can skate any day, and disco sessions and themed parties take place regularly.

In order to take part int he free skating session from 10am on Saturday 27 August, simply arrive at the Box Office 20 minutes before the session in order to get your skates on.
